Philmont Treks

The council offers contingent treks every other year to Philmont. The next council contingent treks will be in the summer of 2008.

How Do I Sign Up:
By going to www.cpcbsa.org/register. Youth can apply at anytime by signing up online and the $250 deposit.

Who:
Youth applicants must be 14 by January 1, 2008, or 14 and completed the 8th grade prior to leaving. Also, ANY AND ALL Venture youth may participate on a Philmont Crew.

What:
Are you ready for the High Adventure trip of a lifetime? How does 12 days of backpacking in the high mountains of New Mexico sound? The Cascade Pacific Council has openings for the 2008 contingent.

When:
The council is offering one Council Contingent:
June 25 - July 10, 2008

Where:
Philmont is the national BSA’s premier high adventure backpacking base located in New Mexico. “Crews” of up to ten Scouts and two adult advisers choose from thirty six, 11 day, 60 to 100 mile backpack trips through the rugged high-altitude backcountry of the southern Rocky Mountains. Along the way, they visit many of Philmont’s 28 staffed camps featuring rock climbing, black powder rifle shooting, blacksmithing, mountain biking, spar pole climbing, a climb of 12,441 ft. to Mt. Baldy.

How Much:
The anticipated cost for this 17 day adventure will be around $1,585. This is a preliminary estimate and may change. (Includes travel, lodging, meals. Subject to change due to uncertainty of airfare.)

Fees will be due as follows:

$250.00 with application (Deposit Fee)

$300.00 additional due by July 15th, 2007

$300.00 additional due by September 15th, 2007

$300.00 additional due by November 15th, 2007

$250.00 additional due by January 15th, 2008

And last payment of $185.00 due by March 15th, 2008

Some need-based financial aid is available.

Once in the system, you have the option to change either of these. You are also able to navigate to your reservation and make a payment. Any amount may be paid; only missed payments are shown as due. See Fee Schedule above for payment amounts and due dates.

Adults must apply online and be approved by the Council High Adventure Committee.
