Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets Scholarships for Scouts are awarded each fall semester to 20 Scouts entering the A&M Corps of Cadets. Each $2,000 scholarship pays $500 per semester for the cadet's first four semesters. Criteria used for selection are as follows: acceptance for admission to Texas A&M; intention to join the Corps of Cadets; attainment of Eagle Scout rank at the time of selection; demonstration of leadership qualities during high school; and attainment of academic excellence in high school.
Applications, which may be obtained from the Office of the Commandant, Texas A&M University, must be accompanied by two letters of recommendation that are supportive of the selection criteria. The application period for scholarship consideration begins after December of the high school senior year. Membership in the Corps of Cadets is mandatory to continue receipt of these scholarships.
