| National Eagle Scout Scholarships
Each year, the National Eagle Scout Association administers the granting of varying amounts of scholarships. The number of $3,000 scholarships varies based on the amount of interest in them and contributions earned during the past year. Last year, twelve were given. Twelve will be given again this year. Also included in this category are four scholarships of $8,000 each ($2,000 payable each year) and four scholarships totaling $4,000 each ($1,000 payable each year), which are provided by the Elks National Foundation. In addition, one $40,000 Mabel and Lawrence S. Cooke Scholarship (up to $10,000 payable for four years), is awarded annually.
These scholarships are restricted to Eagle Scouts who are graduating high school seniors. Selection is based on financial need, scholastic accomplishments, involvement in Scouting, and school and community activities. Grants are on a one-time basis and are not renewable.
Grants are announced during the first week of each June. Applications are available at all BSA local council service centers. Supporting information must be limited to eight pages or fewer. The deadline for submission is February 28 |
