Named after G. H. Oberteuffer, Scout executive of the Portland Area Council from 1925 to 1958, "Chief Obie" Lodge was constructed starting in 1955 and was dedicated May 11, 1957. Chief Obie Lodge is a unique facility in Scouting; no other Boy Scout Council has a facility quite like Chief Obie Lodge. It offers a multipurpose building close to the Portland area.
Chief Obie Lodge is an excellent facility for all forms of Scout training. The main room is large enough for hundreds of participants, while several smaller rooms are perfect for break-out training sessions. The lodge is a perfect location for banquets, and the dorm rooms upstairs will sleep 80+ participants for full weekend events.
