Scouters’ Mountain Taskforce
Possible Options

It was determined that the programs and activities now conducted at the Scouters’ Mountain could be transferred to other locations under a number of different scenarios. Some ideas include:

• Replacing the whole facility on one or more properties in Clackamas, Clark, or north Marion counties or on another council property.

• Work with the City of Happy Valley, Clackamas County and/or Metro to develop a community park at the Top of Scouters' Mountain. Partnering with them in the operation of Chief Obie Lodge and possibly moving the Camp Discovery and COPE to that area.

• Selling the current Council Service Center and moving it to a location more appropriate to the changing demographics of the area. And, including as part of that property the warehouse, shop and COPE course. Adding a satellite service center in the Vancouver area.

• Purchasing a warehouse facility in north or northeast Portland using part of the facility as shop and warehouse and the rest as an indoor COPE and climbing gym. The office section of the building could be used as meeting/training space and/or as a Learning for Life office.

• Selling an area behind the current warehouse to the school district for an elementary school and retain the right for usage of the area for Day Camp.
