Your help and participation is requested.
2nd Thursday of the month 7 PM
Hello Scouter,
We are looking for volunteers to provide service to the leaders in
our district. Each month, there is a break out time for specific
training or presentations that have to do with the upcoming monthly
theme or possibly a theme or idea that you are familiar with. If you are
interested in doing a 15-20 minute training or presentation for our Boy
Scout or Cub Scout leaders, that may help them to continue to provide
new and exciting programs for the boys, let us know.
Yours In scouting,
Jim McMahon

DEN CHIEF TRAINING
DEN LEADERS
One of the best ways to
run your Den and Pack meetings is to have a Den Chief or Chiefs as an
aide.
At Den meetings they
can help set up for the evenings program, keep the Cubs occupied while
you finish preparing, have them do the opening activity, teach the Cubs
how to do proper flag opening and closing ceremonies and help with the
evenings project.
Also, being close in
age to the Cubs they would be a good source for ideas for Den meetings
and how to put those ideas out there so it would be interesting to the
Cubs.
Your Den Chief would
set a good example of how a Boy Scout works with both adults and youth
and demonstrate the leadership skills he has learned in Scouting.
Contact a local Boy Scout Troop and ask if they have Scouts who would
like to be Den Chiefs.
Den Chiefs are
something that are in short supply in our District and yet they can play
a vital role not only for the Dens they would help but for your Troop as
well.
It’s a known fact that
the Cubs that these Den Chiefs work with more often than not crossover
into the Troops these Den Chiefs come from. He’s a familiar face for
them when they enter the Troop and can be used as Patrol Guides for the
New Boy Patrol.
The office of Den Chief
not only helps the Troop but is also beneficial for the Den Chief in
that this position is recognized as a leadership position for the Eagle
application.
