Boy Scouts of America Elect New Board Members

([Portland], [Or], [06/16/04])—The Boy Scouts of America, Cascade Pacific Council Board has elected three new members in the first quarter: Mike Kehoe, Lynn Johnson, and Kevin Fillo .

Mike Kehoe is CEO of Western Reliance Corporation a National company specializing in web-based insurance tracking and loan portfolio protection. He holds a B.S. degree in Business Management from the University of Oregon and founded the Portland Chapter of the Young Entrepreneurs Organization. He believes in giving back to the community and in conjunction with Western Reliance’s sponsorship, he hosts an annual golf tournament to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network. In addition, the company is a strong supporter of CASA, the Christie schools, OMSI and the Cancer Society. He is currently chair of the board of the Riverdale School District.

“Scouting has made a major impact in my life. As an Eagle Scout, I learned many valuable lessons that I’ve used throughout the years. As a member of the board, I look forward to giving back to this tremendous organization and hope I can help others to develop and grow as much as I did during my years as a young Scout,” said Kehoe.

Lynn Johnson was a founding partner of JGP Wealth Management Group of Wachovia Securities in 2001 and currently serves as director. For 20 years prior to this, he was a first vice president and senior financial consultant at Merrill Lynch. He holds a Masters Degree from Lewis and Clark College. Currently Johnson serves on the following boards: Arlington Club, Chess for Success, Classroom Law Project, Northwest Business Council for the Arts, OMSI, the Portland Opera and Portland State University.

“The Scout motto of ‘be prepared’ has served me well in life and in business, and I look forward to the opportunities I’ll have as a new board member to contribute to the growth and development of such an important organization,” said Johnson.

Kevin Fillo is Counsel for the Intel Communications Group at Intel Corporation’s Hillsboro campus. Prior to joining Intel, Fillo was the General Counsel of Xircom, Inc., a public computer technology infrastructure provider based in Thousand Oaks, California which was acquired by Intel in 2001. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and a Juris Doctor degree from Pepperdine University School of Law. Fillo will provide leadership as Tuality District Chairman for the Boy Scouts of America. He previously served three years as District Chair and Executive Board Member in the Ventura County Council, BSA. Fillo is a passionate promoter of the Scouting movement and has been focused on recruiting and motivating adult leadership – a task he views as critical to the long term success of the organization.

“Scouting’s strongest attribute is the ability for youth at a critical age to make a connection with positive adult role models. Our programs have set a global standard in achieving this powerful connection. We need to recapture the spirit of the movement that swept the nation beginning in 1910 and realize the full promise of Scouting despite challenges. The Cascade Pacific Counsel has all the talent, resources and enthusiasm to set a new standard for Scouting in the U.S. for the 21 st Century and beyond. I am proud to participate in realizing this vision,” says Fillo.
