Imagine: As the sun rises over the city, hundreds of community leaders and Scouters gather for breakfast. The community Friends of Scouting campaign formally kicks off with inspirational presentations, recognitions and an opportunity to invest in Scouting by supporting the 2010 Friends of Scouting Campaign. A keynote speaker shares a special message and a long-time Scouter will be honored with the Scoutmaster of Philanthropy Award.
MOMENTUM ~ Throughout the week, in every part of the council, gatherings large and small are taking place to secure support for Scouting. Individual districts too far to attend the metro events will be encouraged to hold gatherings locally, while all Friends of Scouting volunteers will be asked to contact Scouting supporters and friends to secure commitments.
CELEBRATION ~ As the week progresses Scouters from Salem to Vancouver will enjoy a similar fellowship as they celebrate 100 years of Scouting. Keynote speakers will join us there, and another long-time Scouter will be honored with the Scoutmaster of Philanthropy Award. These gatherings are the formal celebration of Cascade Pacific Council’s Leadership Breakfasts.
THE GOAL ~ To secure commitments to Scouting that total $750,000 by the conclusion of the week of February 12th, thereby realizing almost 1/3 of the total 2010 Friends of Scouting Campaign goal.
The Friends of Scouting Leadership Breakfasts are the formal kickoff of the 2010 Friends of Scouting Campaign, which begins in December of 2009 and ends in May 2010. The support generated by this campaign provides for all Scouting programs that instill leadership development and teach young people the skills they need for life. The Cascade Pacific Council reaches nearly 40,000 youth with the help and guidance of more than 15,000 adult mentors.
Dates: Portland, February 4, Salem, February 9, Vancouver, February 10, 2010
Time: 7:15 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. each morning
Why: Because Scouting's community and business leaders are busy, active people, the events are designed to create an inspiring launch to the campaign. This effort will enable the council to start the fiscal year in a strong position while conserving staff and volunteer time, which then can be directed to serving the council's growing membership.
