Youth Protection in Scouting

How does the BSA prevent child abuse in Scouting?

The Boy Scouts of America has adopted a number of policies aimed at eliminating opportunities for abuse within the Scouting program. These policies focus on leadership selection and on placing barriers to abuse within the program.

The Boy Scouts of America has developed an On-Line version of their Youth Protection Training course This will make it easier for volunteers to renew their certification every two years as is specified by the BSA. Please follow the link and remember to follow the directions to receive credit for your training.

At the completion of your training, you will be able to print out a certificate for your records. The council will recieve a report that you completed Youth Protection Training.

You must be a registered adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America in order to have your training recorded on your council records. Please use the member number found on the bottom of your BSA membership card when creating an account.

For Scouters in Willamette, Eagle Valley and Calapooia Districts your Unit number is four digits long starting with a seven. Thus if you are in Troop 24 you will enter 7024. If you are in Pack 567 then you would enter 7567. This applies only to Willamette, Eagle Valley and Calapooia Districts.
