Summer Camps Explained

Cascade Pacific Council operates four overnight summer camps for youth age 5 to 17. Cub Scout Resident Camp is for our younger scouts (age 5-10) and their parents., and Boy Scout Resident Camp is built for our Scouts BSA (age 11-17).

Cub Scout Resident Camps serve scouts ages 5-10 who camp overnight with their local Scouting group and leaders. Resident camps operate in a three night/four day format with two sessions each week. Full time camp staff, hired to work all season, provide leadership and support to such activities as nature studies, handicrafts, fishing, horsemanship, stagecraft, campcraft (knots, cooking, etc.) archery and BB guns, field sports, and STEM fields. Staff are also hired in support roles, such as facility maintenance, dishwashers and trading post (camp store) operators. All resident camps have complete food service and maintenance operations, as well as showers and staff laundry facilities; staff live on-site all summer long at these camps. Cub Scout resident camps that Cascade Pacific Council operates include:

Butte Creek, a 4-day, 3-night Ranch near Scotts Mills 

BASE Camp Baldwin for Webelos a 4-day, 3-night program focused on building Scout skills on the Eastern slopes of Mt. Hood at Camp Baldwin

Boy Scout Resident Camps serve Scouts ages 11-17 who attend resident camp with their local Scouting Troop and leaders. Resident camps operate Sunday through Saturday. Full time camp staff, hired to work all season, provide leadership and support to such activities as nature studies and environmental sciences; handicrafts, such as woodworking and sculpture; aquatics and boating; horsemanship; campcraft, such as knots, lashings, cooking, and survival techniques; shooting sports, including archery, rifle, shotgun, and various others; as well as high adventure opportunities. Staff are also hired to support roles, such as facilities maintenance, dishwashers and trading post (camp store) operators. All resident camps have complete food service and maintenance operations, as well as showers and staff laundry facilities; staff live on-site all summer long at these camps. Camp Baldwin, in the Mount Hood National Forest near Dufur

Camp Meriwether (Oregon Coast near Tillamook)

Camp Pioneer (Mt. Jefferson Wilderness)
