Where Grit Grows in the Wild

Experience Camp Cooper

Located in the coast range, Camp Cooper is surrounded by lush, old-growth forest and boasts a delightful self-guided nature trail, waterfall, wild berries, and fishing on Lake Hurl.

A resident camp ranger and campmaster crew are on site each weekend. Drinking water is available from one central location, October 1 to June 1. Chains are required on your vehicle from November 15 to April 1.

Located near Willamina, Oregon, and 90 minutes southwest of Portland, Camp Cooper is typically open for weekend camping September through June depending on current snow level.

Non Summer Reservations

Available for weekend camping September through mid-June weather permitting due to road access. Reservations are required. Resident Camp Ranger is on duty each weekend. The camp consists of tent sites (personal tents required) and program shelters and buildings.

All non-Summer reservations will be managed using the Tentaroo reservation system. If you are making a reservation as part of a Scouting unit, it is important that you use your unit’s Tentaroo account and not a personal one. If you are a unit from the Cascade Pacific Council, you already have an account that was created for you.

For any use by a group other than a Scout-chartered pack, troop, crew, ship, or post: Please begin by contacting Deanne Molenkamp (503-225-5759) or deanne.molenkamp@scouting.org to inquire about open dates, facilities, and fees. All facilities carry a rental charge.

Guest groups are required to provide a deposit, certificate of insurance, hold-harmless agreement and rental contract. Details about these forms will be provided by Deanne as part of the reservation process.
