HORSE TREK
The Ride of a Lifetime
An Epic Adventure on Horseback
Join us on this once in a lifetime adventure traveling the 165 miles over ten days and nights. Travel through the majestic Mt. Hood Wilderness area where you’ll learn about horses, the wilderness, horse-packing, and lots of cowboy tales from head wrangler Scott DePaolo and his crack team of wranglers. Each rider will bring their personal gear, sleeping bag, and a tent. If the heavens are smiling down on us, plan to sleep under the stars while listening to the crickets chirping and bull-frogs croaking. Grub is served chuck wagon-style by Cookie and his staff.
Two Horse Treks happen each summer happen each summer between Butte Creek Scout Ranch near the Scotts Mills area and Camp Baldwin near Dufur.
Participants are selected by a lottery system and must be age 13+ by June 1st.
Horse Trek Lottery opens high noon November 1st at 12:00 pm and closes on December 8th at midnight.
Impact for Generations.
Prepared for Life.
This is more than a motto. It is a manifesto. It is our promise to the community and to every parent and child who Scouts with us. By Scouting in the Cascade Pacific Council (CPC) of Scouting America (formerly the Boy Scouts of America), every youth can learn to make an impact on the world around them and be more prepared for career and life.
